History

The history of Riba Smith group begins in the late 20's when Mr. Jose Riba Robira, with a strong desire to work and high moral character, began developing the business of selling groceries. The grocery chain increased rapidly throughout the old city of Panama, which is now called the Casco Viejo, and surrounding areas. One of these grocery stores, the newest and largest, was located where the R/S Supermarket in Bella Vista now stands. In 1946 Mr. Jose A. Riba T., son of Mr. Jose R. Riba, is associated with Mr. Lloyd W. Smith and together they planned to change the sales system so that the customer could take products off the shelves. And that’s how the term Supermarket was born in our country.

Our mission is to consistently exceed with our products and services, all the expectations of our customers. We do this in a total quality environment where the product and the service offered are a reflection of our quality business, based on the foundations of a sustainable social development and equitable economic development.

Vision

Riba Smith Group is a respected and admired institution for its human values, where the benefit of customers and the environment is the goal of everyone in the group, a place where the customer feels that she/he is buying products and receiving services of great valuable and where there is an air of harmony and joy of work.

Principles

Social: The company first and foremost serves the community and serves the consumer, who should always receive a benefit from what she/he buys or receives from our companies. The company also serves its workers providing them with adequate wages and working conditions. As a cornerstone of the Company, the human being must be developed and satisfied. For this reason, the company is an entity that can and should be of benefit for all in the community and especially for those who work in it.

Quality: Quality is our business philosophy. It is a broad term but can be summarized as: "Doing things right the first time and every time, to exceed the expectations of those who receive services and goods from the companies in the Riba Smith Group." Quality is not just a statistical term or rules. Quality is based on providing services and products that will do good to those who use them. This refers to health benefits, joy, security, harmony, taste, pleasure and confidence. Thus, Riba Smith Group always focuses on exceeding customer expectations.

Quality Standards

Quality at Riba Smith Group is founded on our people from generation to generation. Quality management focuses on four major points, which are, our People, raw materials, high technology machinery, methods or procedures.

The Quality System is based on understanding human beings and their needs, keeping in mind that our customers are our Stars.

In our continuous monitoring system, each worker must know the critical physical characteristics that define the profile of each finished product and take responsibility for not allowing the release of Rimith nonconforming product.

Operational processes ensure production through the daily and continuous evaluation of the four cardinal points, generating the quality expected by our customers and the harmony of our company and the Environment.
